Turning Away From The Basics
Turning Away From The Basics 'The basics' are what turn: ' A
baby into a toddler ' A young man or woman into an adult ' Minor
leaguers into major leaguers ' Amateurs into professionals in
every walk of life
Babies see everyone around them walking and talking. They want
to be just like the rest, so they try and try until they learn
how to walk and talk Young men & women are taught that it's the
'right thing to do' to keep their hair neat, wear clean clothes,
don't swear (at least in public) ...

Baby Bedding Buying Made Simple
There is a near endless array of baby bedding on the market that
includes sets that are gender specific and others that can be
used for either a boy or a girl. You can buy each piece
separately but if you really think about it, it is the most
expensive way to go. Just as there are ¡®bed-in- a-bag¡¯ sets
for adults they have them for your nursery as well.
A bed in a bag set includes sheet, pillow cases, a comforter,
shams, and skirts for adult beds. Bed sets for the baby is the
same way. If ...

What Did I Do To Deserve This? A Babysitter's Introduction to
When you decided to start babysitting, you probably had no idea
about Separation Anxiety in children. You may feel like an
expert by now! Most likely, two factors caused you to consider
babysitting: You wanted to earn some money, and you love kids.
Put the two together, and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to see
that babysitting is a pretty reasonable part-time job for you.
Maybe you've taken some classes and networked for your first
jobs, or maybe you have talked a family member into letting ...

Dressing Baby For The Winter
Jackets and coats make a huge difference!
When most people think of baby clothes they conjure images of
cute sailor suits and frilly pink dresses or perhaps little
white "Onesies," soiled with spit-up Isomil formula. Rarely do
they think of heavy winter coats and wind resistant jackets. In
a cold climate, however (or on cold days in a warm climate),
babies need the protection of a coat or jacket just as much as
an adult does, in fact more so.
Fortunately the designers of the finest baby apparel ...

hospital takes a lot of preparation. The last thing you'll want
to do in those first few days after the baby arrives is run
around to pick up any little necessitates that you forgot.

before the magical day can give you a feeling of accomplishment
- and set your mind at ease that you've got everything you need.

The First Pair Of Baby Shoes
NEVER JUDGE A BABY UNTIL YOU'VE WOBBLED A MILE IN HER WEEBOK'S
Any parent will tell you that there is nothing quite like
watching as your child takes her first steps. When little Tom or
Katie start to teeter around upright for the first time there
are a few messages that should flash through your mind in order
of importance. Somewhere after 'please don't fall, oh please
don't fall' and 'hmmm' the 'out of baby reach' shelves need to
be a bit higher now' should be 'time to get the little one ...

your new baby, mentally, physically and you will need to adjust
your house and car for the new baby too!
Mentally preparing for the new baby Remember this, women adjust

to start being all fatherly after the pregnancy is announced.
They're not like that. Women adjust better to the new baby,
mentally, ...

When To Start Teaching Your Baby (2)
With you or without you, your baby will be learning from the
moment she is born and starts to take in her new surroundings.
Every sight and sound will be a part of her learning process;
she will observe everything you do and listen to every word you
say. And as the months pass, she will eventually start to copy.
Fully conscious teaching, with books and other articles of
learning, will come much later on; but of course, it is entirely
up to you.
With our baby daughter, Saffron, I started reading ...

The Truth About Baby Bedding
Imagine your little baby in her nursery. So happy in the
colorful new home you have prepared for her. Watching the
Mobile. Lying down comfortably in her crib.
Comfortably in her crib. That depends on the bedding sets you
use. Babies have very delicate skin. A baby's skin is so much
thinner than adult skin. Some babies are very sensitive to their
surroundings.
The first thing you have to take into consideration when it
comes to baby bedding, is comfort. Will the fabric make baby's
skin ...

The Making of a Mini-Model
Baby modeling isn't an exclusive art - nor is it as potentially
fraught with danger as modeling opportunities for older children
or adults.
Unlike modeling aspirations of someone older - a teenager or an
adult - a baby-modeling career doesn't demand that the tiny one
stand out among the crowd. She or he doesn't have to have the
pearliest smile, the greatest physique, the wiggliest walk or
any of those accoutrements that older model wanna-be's must have
to be chosen from the ranks of the ...

The Storm
Once, as a child, we were dead center (or so it seemed) of a
really severe electrical storm; with sounds so loud the affect
was a bit more like explosions on our nerves. Though,
thankfully, all the family was home; family couldn't even have
kept us safe.
We gathered around the kitchen table, praying first then trying
to find ways to entertain each other so as to distract from all
the noise. And, of course, everything within the house had been
turned off and unplugged, except the kitchen light ...

Penis
" When God made little boys, He made them out of string. He
found he had a bit too much so he left a little thing. "
Recently I was faced with a question that got me thinking and
pondering why is it that parents tell their children penis is a
bad word. Is the word penis really bad? No the word penis is not
a bad word; just children say it at the impropriate times. I
once sent an email to a man concerning his poetry and invited
him to take a look at the todays-woman.net website. In my email
I ...

In the crook of my arms
His head is tilted back, mouth slightly open. His breath is slow
and steady and his eyes almost all-closed but slightly open. His
neck nestles over the crook of my arm and I stare at his face as
he breathed in and breathed out. A feeling of overwhelming love
washed over me. I was totally at peace as I watched my son sleep
in my arms.
I must say that there's absolutely nothing quite like it at all.
When was it that he got so big? He's almost too big to fit into
my arms as his legs dangled off ...

Children's Sexuality
We are all born as sexual beings. It is as much a part of our
anatomy, our emotional and mental make-up as breathing. Whether
we are acting upon our sexual drive at any given moment is
beside the point. I think it's important to realize that
children have sexual feelings, just not as developed as adult
feelings. Whether these instincts remain healthy is quite
another story. As parents, I believe we need to instill a
healthy outlook in our kids about sex and their imminent
sexuality.
The first ...

The Importance of Fathers
There is no doubt that mothers play an all-important leading
role in the lives of their children. They are the obvious heroes
of child rearing. But what about a father's role? Just how
important are the dads of the world compared to the almighty
image of mother? My belief is that fathers play just as
important a role as mothers. Different, yes. Possibly not as
nurturing, not as all-sacrificing but just as important in the
developmental and emotional well being of a child.
Dads are the solid ...

How to deal with a baby that has colic
Colic is still a mystery to Doctors. They still do not know what
cause colic in babies. They will tell you that there is no known
cure for colic. I have always heard of colic, and heard from
mothers that have dealt with this problem. I have never had to
deal with a colicky baby, until my fourth child Nicholas was
born. Colic is hard not just for the mother, it is hard on the
whole family.
There is no tried and true method to dealing with a baby who has
colic. A crying baby is the hardest thing ...

All I Want for Christmas is My Son Back
The holidays are upon us ' and how they churn up our emotions.
The expectations ' the memories ' the empty chairs ' Somewhere

years ago; her younger brother, who died at 17, much longer ago
than that, and yet it was only yesterday. I share with her my
poem saying it is the ...

Photography Business
Copyright 2005 Roy Barker
Babies make the best and the worst subjects to photograph. They
are the best for two reasons, people are more tolerant at
looking at baby photos, as well as the fact that babies are not
aware their image is being captured, and therefore they do not
tend to put on the 'camera face' so typically used by elder
children and adults. They are the worst subjects because their
behaviour is unpredictable. Because their behaviour is
uncensored, they show their emotions, and can ...

Target Your Business to an Age Group, Not to the World!
As a consultant working with retailers, one of the first
questions I ask a client is can they paint a picture for me of a
typical customer. Some clients can be very specific, whilst
others just give me a blank look, then follow it up by saying
everyone is a potential customer; how can they paint a picture
of a typical customer?
Alas, very few retailers can claim to have the whole of society
as a customer base, the rest of us have to target specific
consumer groups.
Historically, these groups ...
